Children’s Hospital, Seattle
My first commission for Children’s Hospital was a series of murals for the lobby of the Janet Sinegal Patient Care Building. This triptych was painted in oil on canvas on three undulating walls. The murals continue the African savannah theme of the original “Giraffe” building to which the Janet Sinegal Building is connected. My wife Rebecca also painted the African animal sculptures used in the lobby in front of the murals: elephants, giraffes and zebras.
The building houses a medical unit, surgery and rehabilitation units, a meditation room, play areas, teen activity rooms, shower facilities and 80 single- and double-occupancy patient rooms.
