In November 2004, My rep, Susan Trimpe, offered me a unique project. The head of marketing for Alaska at Holland America Lines, Noel deChambeau, wanted to wrap a tour bus with Alaskan imagery. The bus would travel aross North America, educating travel agents and consumers about Holland America's Alaska cruises. Noel asked videographer Bob Frueling to try and track down an artist to do the job ...i n one month, The first rep Bob talked to said the task was impossible. It would have to be done by computera nd would take far more time .
Susan was more positive, and so was I. From start to finish my sketches, color comprehensives and three oil and canvas paintings for the sides and back of the bus were completed in 20 days. One of the aspects deemed critical for the successful completion of the project was accurately depicting the perpetually pink autum sky of Alaska; a unique kind of light. Noel saw this as artwork on wheels and also insisted I sign the bus. My signature, ten feet across, graces the back.
Supergraphics in Seattle translated the oil into digital files that were applied with shrink wrapped vinyl to an MCI touring coach
