This educational poster for Teachers' Discovery is meant to hang on Middle School classroom doors during discussions of the Middle Ages. Teachers' Discovery asked that I dispense with the "Knight in Shining Armor" of Hollywood fame. The company preferred a realistic portrayal of war, with the knight as a metal clad enforcer, a thug on horseback who ruled through terror, not a glittering, chivalrous soldier. The poster shows the evolution of the knight from the Romanesque, mail-clad warrior of Charlemagne's day to the decorated dandy of the High Renaissance. I painted each of the scenes separately in oil on panel, the gargoyles in ink, created the frame (Based on an illuminated Bible) in Illustrator. and designed the headline font in Photoshop.
