The United States of the Oregon Trail era is Manifest Destiny in the making. Ethnic cleansing is underway as one by one the United States Army either exterminates or relocates Native American tribes to make way for white settlers. The US has yet to grab at gunpoint nearly half of Mexico; that country still stretches to today's Oregon border. Texas is an independent, pro-slavery nation. I illustrated this time of flux and turmoil for Scholastic's "My Name is America" faux diary, The Journal of Jedidiah Barstow, using period maps for reference. The project was executed in Illustrator and Photoshop.
