Pelindaba (Zulu for "place of great gatherings") is an organic lavender farm on San Juan island, Washington. Started by Susan and Stephen Robins , the Farm has grown from a few lavender beds to one of the largest , high-end retail lavender operations in Washington state. Pelindaba Downtown , the farm's retail location in Friday Harbor was opened in 2004. So that visitors to the store can get a feel for the beauty of the farm, I was asked to paint this signature image, depicting the lavender fields in July, before the harvest. The painting is oil on canvas, measuring three by seven feet. The closeups below give a sense of the scale and detail. Pelindaba sells prints and cards with this imge and giclée reproductions on canvas in any size up to seven feet. To visit the Pelindaba website, click here.
